Maruti Suzuki delivers India's 1st flex-fuel WagonR to ISMA E20-E100
Maruti Suzuki has kicked off deliveries of the WagonR flex-fuel, the first Indian car that can run on both ethanol and gasoline blends (from E20 up to E100).
The Indian Sugar and Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) got the first batch in New Delhi, marking a big step toward cleaner fuels and testing how well flex-fuel engines work here.
WagonR flex-fuel costs ₹7.24L
The WagonR flex-fuel is based on the top ZXi+ variant and costs ₹7.24 lakh, about ₹85,000 more than the regular gasoline model.
It runs on a 1.2-liter engine with 90hp and a five-speed manual gearbox to handle both fuels smoothly.
To back this up, the government is rolling out E85 fuel stations; in Delhi, E85 costs ₹82.12 per liter, around ₹20 less than the currently available E20 petrol, helping push India toward using more homegrown energy instead of imported oil.
