Maruti Suzuki showcases Victoris SUV running on bio gas
Maruti Suzuki is showcasing a Bio Gas prototype version of its Victoris SUV at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show.
Built on the current CNG model, this prototype uses a tweaked 1.5L K-Series engine that runs on Compressed Bio Gas (CBG), showing Maruti's push for cleaner, multi-fuel tech.
It retains the under-body CNG tank
The Victoris Bio Gas keeps the CNG model's under-body tank, so you don't lose much boot space—pretty smart, and similar to what Tata and Hyundai are doing.
It is specially tuned for CBG.
CBG is a greener alternative to regular CNG
CBG comes from organic waste, making it a greener alternative to regular CNG. Using it could help tackle pollution from farm burning and city waste.
While this Victoris is just a prototype for now (no India launch date yet), it highlights Maruti's ongoing bet on petrol, CNG, hybrid, and electric options for the future.
