Mumbai introduces E85 fuel priced at ₹91.18 per liter
Mumbai just introduced E85 fuel, a blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, aiming to make driving cleaner and a bit lighter on your wallet.
It's priced at ₹91.18 per liter (more than Delhi, but still way less than regular gasoline in Mumbai at ₹111.33 per liter).
The move is part of the government's push for greener, more affordable options on the road.
E85 compatible with flex fuel vehicles
E85 works with flex-fuel vehicles that can handle higher ethanol blends.
While there are not many of these cars and bikes yet, brands like Maruti Suzuki (with its WagonR Bioflex) and Hero MotoCorp (Splendor+ Flex Fuel) are rolling out new models that fit the bill.
This shift isn't just about saving money: it's also about cutting oil imports and reducing emissions by using more homegrown crops like sugarcane for fuel.
