    What's the story

Volkswagen is gearing up to launch the next-generation of the Polo sedan in Russia.

In the latest update, the German automaker has revealed the design sketches of the upcoming model, giving us a fair idea of the updated looks.

Notably, the new-generation Vento, which will be launched in 2021 in India, will take the styling cues from this model.

    Here's our roundup.

    Exteriors

New Volkswagen Vento: At a glance

The India-specific Volkswagen Vento will be based on VW Group's India-centric MQB A0-IN platform and is likely to come with a host of cosmetic updates over the outgoing model.

Going by the official renders, the new car would get a three-slat grille, redesigned front as well as rear bumpers, diamond-cut alloy wheels, and new LED taillamps.

    Interiors

    Inside the cabin

Inside, the new-generation Volkswagen Vento is likely to offer a five-seater cabin with a bunch of luxurious and hi-tech features. The car would get a fully-digital instrument cluster, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, new AC vents, and a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel.

Moreover, the new model is expected to retain the safety features of the outgoing variant.

    Information

    Power and performance

In India, the new-generation Volkswagen Vento will be offered with a 1.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine which churns out 113bhp of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque. For handling transmission duties, it would get a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox.

    Pricing

The car could arrive in India in 2021

Volkswagen is likely to launch the new-generation Vento in India sometime in the second half of 2021. As far as pricing is concerned, the car is expected to fall under Rs. 9-13 lakh bracket.

Once launched, the sedan will take on the likes of Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, and Honda City.
