This retro-style sports car is inspired by the 1930s
What's the story
Iconic Auto Sports, a low-volume car manufacturer from Argentina, has unveiled the stunning SP40 Restomod. The vehicle takes its design inspiration from the iconic 1934 Model 40 Special Speedster by Ford. But don't let its retro looks fool you; this beauty packs some serious modern muscle under the hood. The SP40 is powered by a third-generation Ford 5.0-liter Coyote engine that churns out over 460hp and torque of up to 570Nm.
Performance
It features advanced transmission and suspension systems
The SP40 Restomod comes with a five-speed Tremec TKO 500/600 manual transmission, giving it the perfect blend of power and control. It also features independent front and rear suspension systems for a smooth ride. The car's stopping power is provided by Mustang GT350R brakes, with six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo calipers on cross-drilled disks of 15.5- and 14.9-inch, respectively.
Design
SP40 Restomod combines modern features with retro design
Weighing in at just over 1,190kg, the SP40 Restomod is lightweight thanks to its carbon-fiber body. The interior is a unique blend of aluminum, leather and wood with Sparco safety belts. Despite its retro design, the car comes with modern features such as wireless phone charging. Iconic Auto Sports co-founder Arturo Arrebillaga said their goal was "not to replicate history but to awaken it."
Orders
What about availability?
The SP40 Restomod is a unique blend of retro and modern design elements. Its design takes cues from the 1930s, but wide wheels and headlights give away its modernity. Each component of this one-of-a-kind vehicle was designed and built by Iconic Auto Sports, making it truly special. Although the company is based in Argentina, it has a US office where customers can place orders for their own bespoke SP40 Restomod.
