Bengaluru:Woman loses Rs. 16,000 while trying to save Rs. 317
  • A Bengaluru-based woman got the biggest shock after she made a payment of Rs. 317 mistakenly and while trying to retrieve it, lost Rs. 16,000 to hackers.

The 40-year-old had erroneously paid her last month's electricity bill through a mobile app. Upon realizing it, she wrote to BESCOM.

Soon she got an 'official' call, seeking her account-details for refund. Within minutes, she was defrauded.

But by mistake, she ended up paying June's bill through 'PayUmoney'.

She registered a consumer complaint with BESCOM to get it refunded on the same day.

Four days later, on July 24 (Tuesday), she was contacted.
