2019 Hyundai Elite i20 gets feature updates, new variants introduced
Hyundai Motors has rejigged the entire Elite i20 lineup to introduce updated variants and also comply with new safety norms mandated by the Indian government. The premium hatchback, that will compete with Maruti Suzuki's upcoming Baleno, is now available in 12 versions including eight new models. In terms of pricing, the 2019 Elite i20 now starts at Rs. 5,49,900 (ex-showroom). Here's our roundup.
The 2019 Elite i20 retains the styling of last year's facelifted model. So, you still have Hyundai's fluidic design, glossy cascade grille, LED projector headlamps, rear wipers, and rear bumper. However, all models now comply with the government-mandated safety norms (applicable from October 2019) and feature at least two airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder, speed-alert system, as well as rear parking sensors.
The 2019 Elite i20 lineup starts at Rs. 5,49,900 (ex-showroom) for the base-end Era (petrol) model. It is Rs. 7,000 more than the outgoing base-end model. Likewise, the Era diesel variant has also become expensive by Rs. 7,000 and now starts at Rs. 6,88,000. And alongside the updated Era models, Hyundai has introduced three new trims: Magna+, Sportz+ and Asta (O) with CVT.
The Magna+ gets several updates including keyless entry, Bluetooth, steering-mounted controls, LED DRLs and fog lamps and chromed front grille. Likewise, Sportz+ trim offers 16-inch diamond-cut alloys, touchscreen infotainment system, adjustable rear headrests, sliding front armrest along with tilt-and-telescopic steering. Notably, the CVT (automatic) model of Sportz+ features wireless charging support. Lastly, the top-end Asta (O) model is now available with automatic transmission also.
The all-new Magna+ (petrol) model costs Rs. 6,25,157 while the Magna+ (diesel) variant is priced at Rs. 7,61,000. Further, the premium Sportz+ (petrol) models come at starting price of Rs. 7,11,900 while the Sportz+ (diesel) variants are available at an opening price of Rs. 8,36,300.
The 2019 Elite i20 retains the petrol and diesel engine options of the outgoing model. The petrol variants run on a 1.2-liter engine that offers 82bhp of maximum power and peak torque of 115Nm. The diesel models are powered by a 1.4-liter CRDi engine that generates 99bhp and a peak torque of 132Nm. Notably, CVT automatic transmission is available with the petrol engine only.
