The 8th Pay Commission is officially underway, with Justice Ranjan Prakash Desai leading the charge.
The commission will review pay, pensions, and allowances for central government employees, weighing economic realities and how changes might impact state finances and public sector jobs.

Past commissions faced similar delays

The report is expected by April 2027, but if history repeats itself, actual pay hikes may take longer—past commissions have seen delays of up to two years before anything kicked in.
So while updates are coming, central government employees and pensioners might not see real changes until 2028.
