Airtel is offering free 20GB data: How to get it

    What's the story

Taking on Reliance Jio and Vodafone-Idea in India, Bharti Airtel has started offering free data to its subscribers. The telco is giving up to 20GB additional data with some of its prepaid plans.

However, there's a small catch here - the free data is being offered as Wi-Fi data and it can be availed within Airtel Wi-Fi Zones only.

    Here are the finer details.

    Offer details

Free data available with select prepaid plans

According to Telecom Talk, Airtel is introducing a new service called 'Airtel Wi-Fi Zone' to its prepaid subscribers.

And as part of this new service, the telco is giving up to 20GB of free Airtel Wi-Fi data to users who recharge with unlimited combo plans.

For example, if you recharge with the Rs. 399 pack, you'll get 20GB of Airtel Wi-Fi data.

    New service

Here's all you need to know about Airtel's Wi-Fi Zone

Airtel Wi-Fi Zone is a new Wi-Fi hotspot service that is available in public places like airports, colleges, corporate parks, hospitals, retail shops, and others.

Airtel claims its Wi-Fi hotspot service is currently available in over 500 locations across metro cities like Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi, and Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, at present, the service is only available for prepaid users and not for postpaid subscribers.

    Getting started

How to use Airtel Wi-Fi Zone service?

You will have to be in an Airtel Wi-Fi Zone to use the service.

To get started, open the My Airtel app and tap on the "My Wi-Fi" tile. Now give necessary permissions to establish the connection.

Alternatively, you can connect to the open SSID named @Free Airtel Wi-Fi. On the sign-in page, tap "Airtel User" and complete OTP verification to access the internet.

    Hotspots

How to find Airtel Wi-Fi Zones in your city?

While the free data offer is great, you should have an Airtel Wi-Fi Zone in your city to avail the benefit. To find a hotspot near your place, go to the Airtel official website and navigate to the Check Wi-Fi location tab.

Now, enter your city and location name to check if you have an Airtel Wi-Fi Zone near your place.
