India's housing market just hit the brakes a bit. House prices went up by 3.6% in the first quarter of FY27, which is slower than last quarter's 4.5%.
The All-India House Price Index (HPI) nudged up to 117.5 by June 2026, with cities like Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram leading the charge.
Chandigarh and Lucknow lead gains
The HPI tracks prices across 18 big cities and shows that growth has cooled off compared to earlier months.
While Chandigarh and Lucknow stood out for their price jumps, places like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru also saw increases, just not as fast as before.
Overall, it looks like India's urban housing market is settling down after a period of quicker rises.
