Amazon and Flipkart raise seller fees as festive rush begins
Business
Amazon and Flipkart are raising seller fees just as the festive shopping rush kicks in.
The idea is to push sellers for faster deliveries, but it's also making things tougher for those already dealing with slim profits.
Amazon order-value penalties Flipkart ₹30-₹90 fines
Amazon now charges penalties based on order value, so if a seller cancels an order or misses the dispatch deadline, they could pay anywhere from 10% (for orders under ₹10,000) to 2% (for orders above ₹100,000).
Flipkart's new rules mean sellers who've been active over three months face fines starting at ₹30 for late dispatches and up to ₹90 for delays plus cancelations.
And from September 7, Amazon will bump up closing fees by ₹1-₹3 depending on item price, citing rising costs.
