Annie Altman updates childhood sexual abuse lawsuit against Sam Altman
Annie Altman, sister of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has updated her lawsuit accusing him of sexual abuse dating back to their childhood.
A recent court decision lets Annie move forward with the case in Missouri, where she says the abuse began when she was three and Sam was 12.
Sam Altman denies allegations and countersues
Annie's claims cover incidents from 1997 to 2006. The case was filed as an amended lawsuit after a judge said she could pursue claims under Missouri's child sexual abuse statute, with the standalone sexual assault and sexual battery claims having expired in 2008.
Sam strongly denies everything and is countersuing Annie for defamation over her public accusations.
The situation comes with added complexity: Annie has faced mental health challenges, while Sam, known for co-founding OpenAI and worth $3.3 billion according to Forbes, calls the lawsuit an attempt at extortion.
