Apple unveils App Accelerator in India for developers

Apple announced that it will be opening its App Accelerator in Bengaluru which would provide specialized support for developers looking to create iOS tools. All iOS developers in India can access the App Accelerator by signing in to its Bengaluru website. Apple's team will give guidance to developers every week on best practices to improve their iOS app development skills.

iPhone: Assembly in Bengaluru will start in a month

Karnataka IT Minister Priyank Kharge said "In less than a month...Apple will start assembling and making its high-end iPhones at its plant in the city (Bengaluru)." He added that "Taiwanese contract manufacturer Wistron Corp will help Apple in doing so." Assembly in India will help reduce prices of the iPhone. Apple is currently seeking tax concessions on imports of several components.

Apple eager to have Indian developers "share their innovation"

"We are impressed by the great entrepreneurial spirit in India and are excited to provide a platform for these developers to share their innovations with customers around the world," said senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Apple, Philip Schiller.

Indian developers have access to advanced tools to hone skills

The App Accelerator will help developers get access to support and guidance on Swift, the intuitive programming language used to create iOS, Apple TV and Apple Watch apps. The facility also contains Apple Technology Evangelists who will provide over 500 developers weekly with specialised briefings. Developers will also receive detailed feedback to improve their apps.

Nasscom says App Accelerator will help India's digital economy

"Apple's commitment to the developer community through the opening of the App Accelerator is a tremendous investment in the future of India's digital economy," said Nasscom President R. Chandrashekhar.
