Consumer forum orders Apple, authorized service center to pay ₹1.09L
Business
Apple and its authorized service center have been ordered to pay ₹1.09 lakh to T Faisal from Tirur after his new iPhone 14 Plus started overheating and having camera issues.
Faisal bought the phone for his son's online classes, but repeated trips to the service center didn't fix things, so he took his complaint to the consumer forum.
Commission finds Apple guilty, orders refund
After reviewing expert evidence, the commission found Apple guilty of not fixing the defects, calling it a deficiency in service and unfair trade practice.
Faisal will get a full refund (₹92,250), plus extra for mental distress (₹10,000), and legal costs (₹7,000).
Apple and its authorized service center have 45 days to pay up or face 9% annual interest, highlighting its responsibility under warranty.
