Disney names theme park head Josh D'Amaro as new CEO
Disney just picked Josh D'Amaro, the current head of its theme parks and experiences, to be its next CEO.
He'll officially take over from Bob Iger on March 18, 2026, in a unanimous vote held on Monday.
D'Amaro's big challenge: streaming wars and tech trends
D'Amaro is stepping into some big shoes—and a huge job.
He'll be leading Disney's largest business segment (think: theme parks, resorts, cruises) that pulled in $36 billion last year and is expanding globally.
But he'll also have to tackle challenges like streaming competition and changing tech trends.
D'Amaro's journey at Disney
D'Amaro's basically grown up at Disney—he joined back in 1998 and has worked across finance, marketing, strategy, and operations.
Before running all things "Experiences," he was president of Disney World and now oversees everything from Imagineering to partnerships with Epic Games.
Iger backs D'Amaro in his final days as CEO
He's taking over from Bob Iger—a Disney legend who led the company through major changes since 2005 (with a brief break).
Iger said, "He has an instinctive appreciation of the Disney brand, and a deep understanding of what resonates with our audiences, paired with the rigor and attention to detail required to deliver some of our most ambitious projects."
