Ericsson's new R&D center in India to focus on 5G
Business
Ericsson just set up a new research and development center in Bengaluru, aiming to tap into India's tech talent for building next-gen 5G software.
This move not only boosts India's role in global telecom but also brings fresh energy to the country's growing innovation scene.
Ericsson's plans for India
The Bengaluru team will work with experts worldwide on advanced 5G and AI projects—think 6G frameworks (with IIT Madras), cyber-physical systems, and edge computing (with IIT Kharagpur and the Indian Statistical Institute).
They're also teaming up with Volvo and Airtel on cool stuff like XR and digital twins.
As Ericsson India's head Nitin Bansal put it, "We're leveraging Indian software talent while contributing to the country's telecom knowledge base."
