Big money moved into the stock market on Monday as both foreign (FIIs) and domestic (DIIs) investors put in a combined approximately ₹3,675.07 crore.
FIIs switched gears after two days of selling and became net buyers again, picking up stocks worth ₹1,181.66 crore on a provisional basis.
DIIs buy ₹2,493.41cr as Sensex slips
DIIs outpaced FIIs with net purchases of ₹2,493.41 crore.
But even with all this action from big investors, the Sensex slipped 172 points and Nifty dropped 33 points, mostly because public sector banks weighed things down.
On the bright side, midcap stocks showed some strength and gold financiers saw gains as gold prices jumped, while sugar stocks took a hit from profit booking.
