Former SpaceX manager files harassment lawsuit
Jenna Shumway, who used to oversee security programs at SpaceX, has taken the company and former Defense Department official Daniel Collins to federal court.
She says she was passed over for a director job, with Collins hired as her superior in spring 2024, then faced sexual harassment and discrimination.
According to Shumway, Collins took away her work responsibilities over a period of months, leading to her termination in October 2024.
She also claims both Collins and SpaceX broke strict government security rules.
Shumway's lawsuit details
Shumway's lawsuit says Collins excluded women from key security tasks and acted inappropriately at work, while SpaceX allegedly brushed off her complaints—just telling staff to steer clear of him.
The case was moved to federal court at SpaceX's request after a New York Times report raised concerns about security violations under Collins, triggering several government investigations into SpaceX.
Right now, both state and federal agencies are looking into similar harassment claims at the company.
Neither SpaceX nor Collins has commented yet; Shumway is seeking damages through the legal process.
