Gartner: India may drive 5% global semiconductor demand by 2030
India's AI data center scene is getting bigger, and according to Gartner, it could drive 5% of global semiconductor demand by 2030.
Even though India doesn't have a huge share yet, hyperscalers and data-centre companies are expected to continue investing in India, helped by relatively economical power and the country's large digital user base.
Globally, semiconductor revenue is expected to hit $1.6 trillion by 2026, driven by AI infrastructure spending and a sharp memory pricing cycle.
Memory market $837B by 2026
AI data centers will make up more than one-third of global semiconductor revenue in 2026, more than half by 2030. The memory market alone could reach $837 billion in revenue by 2026.
For Indian consumers, this means smartphones and PCs might get pricier (up to 30% more), especially entry-level models, as memory now takes up most of their production costs.
Premium devices will feel less pain, but affordable options might become harder to find.
