Five ways to save money during the festive season

The festive season is upon us. While the upcoming celebrations are bound to bring along cheer and joy - festivals could, at times, be harsh on your pocket. However, that doesn't mean that you have to loot a bank or cut out on the fun quotient. Here are five ways in which you can save some cash during the holiday season.

#1
Method 1: Set up a budget and stick to it

Before the festive season kicks in and you start flowing out your cash - take a pause, and formulate a budget, keeping in mind various factors such as your savings and gifting requirements. Once you have decided on a set amount, make sure you stick to it, no matter what. Also, never buy things on credit, as that might bring trouble in future.

#2
Method 2: Shop early to save some bucks

One sure shot way to ruin your budget is to rush around for gifts and other items desperately at the last-minute. It could result in wrong choices and upsetting of your monetary plans. So, take out some time in advance and go out shopping before the high-rush period. This will give you plenty of time to make mindful decisions and even benefit from sales.

#3
Method 3: Consider giving out DIY gifts

If you are really short on cash - you might as well ditch the idea of buying ready made gifts from the market. Instead, tickle your creative side, and build something out of scratch right from the comfort of your home. This will not only help you save some much needed cash, but those efforts will also bring a smile to your friends/relatives' faces.

#4,5
Methods 4 and 5: Always compare; use a savings jar

Compare: After you check out deals on e-portals and local markets, compare the prices and features thoroughly. Only then, go ahead and make a decision about when and from where to buy. Savings jar: This might sound a bit out of line, but believe us, keeping aside a savings jar and greeting it from time to time could come really handy during festive season.
