Incorrect EPF dates delay PF transfers and threaten EPS pension
Quick heads-up: If your EPF records have mistakes in your joining or exit dates, you could face delays with PF transfers and even miss out on pension eligibility.
These dates are key for your Universal Account Number (UAN) history, and you need 10 years of eligible service to qualify for a member pension under the Employees's Pension Scheme (EPS).
EPFO allows Aadhaar OTP exit updates
Wrong or missing exit dates can block PF transfers and mess up your contribution timeline, so always double-check them.
The EPFO now lets you correct these details easily online if your UAN is linked with Aadhaar; just use an OTP after 60 days of leaving a job to update a missing exit date.
For older UANs (before 1 October 2017), employer certification might still be needed.
EPFO recommends checking your records regularly so you don't get stuck waiting for withdrawals or pension claims down the line.
