India tells SpaceX to pause Starlink projects pending operating license

India has told SpaceX's Starlink to pause all its internet projects with states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Meghalaya until it gets the right license to operate.
These states had signed up for satellite internet in remote areas, but the government flagged legal issues and said Starlink needs official clearance before moving forward.
Officials seek safeguards while Starlink reapplies
Officials are also concerned about security risks in sensitive regions, especially the Northeast, and want Starlink to promise extra safeguards.
In response, Starlink has reapplied for approval from India's space regulator.
The company still says it's committed to bringing internet to rural areas, but can't do much until they get the green light from New Delhi.
