India is gearing up to finalize free-trade agreements, or FTAs, with Oman, the UK and New Zealand in the next six weeks.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal shared that the New Zealand deal could be signed by late April, while Oman's FTA is set for May 1.
Talks with the UK are also wrapping up soon.
India deepens trade ties globally
India is not stopping there: negotiations are picking up with Chile and Peru, plus a big agreement with South Africa's customs union is targeted for 2026.
At a recent WTO conference, Minister Goyal even met China's trade minister to discuss expanding cooperation in areas like pharmaceuticals and fisheries.
All these moves show India wants a bigger seat at the global trade table.
