India UK FTA set to launch with 99% exports duty-free
Big news for trade: the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is set to roll out in the next month or so.
After a key meeting at the WTO, both countries are moving forward with a deal that lets 99% of Indian exports enter the UK duty-free, while also making it cheaper for UK products like cars and whiskey to come into India.
UK fast-tracks FTA, India pursues FTAs
The U.K.'s fast-track approval shows how much this deal matters on both sides.
It's part of India's bigger push to build stronger global trade ties: similar FTAs are lined up with Oman (signed on December 18, 2025, with implementation targeted for May 1, 2026), and talks are ongoing with groups like Mercosur, Canada, Chile, and SACU.
If you're curious about global business or just want to know where your favorite products might be coming from soon, these deals could shake things up.
