Knight Frank report: India's data center pipeline hits 8.33 GW
India's data centers are about to level up in a big way, with the total development pipeline reaching 8.33 GW, more than five times the current live data center capacity of 1.6 GW, says Knight Frank India.
This surge is fueled by the rise of AI, cloud computing, and stricter rules on keeping data local.
Most of this new capacity is still in the early or planning stages, showing just how much confidence there is in India's digital future.
Mumbai leads data center pipeline
Mumbai stands out with the largest chunk (3.75 GW) thanks to its strong tech infrastructure and financial clout.
Hyderabad (1.93 GW) and Chennai (1.36 GW) are also growing fast, boosted by government support and smart investments.
Meanwhile, cities like Vizag, NCR, Pune, and Bengaluru are starting to carve out their own space in the data center scene as India's digital economy keeps expanding.
