Longtime Google executive Donald Harrison resigns from SpaceX board
Donald Harrison, a longtime Google executive, has resigned from SpaceX's board. He joined Google back in 2005 and brought years of experience to the table.
SpaceX says his exit was not due to any disagreement with the company on any matter relating to its operations, policies, or practices and thanked him for his service.
The timing is interesting: it's just five months since SpaceX went public in the largest IPO on record.
Alphabet keeps massive SpaceX stake
Even with Harrison leaving, the Google-SpaceX partnership isn't going anywhere.
Alphabet (Google's parent company) has been a major investor since 2015 and still holds a massive stake.
As of today, SpaceX is valued at about $1.8 trillion, and Google keeps signing huge contracts, like paying up to $920 million a month for compute capacity from its data centers in the area around Memphis, Tennessee, and teaming up on projects like Suncatcher.
