Twitter appoints former Network18 Digital CEO as India MD

Twitter has roped in Manish Maheshwari, the former CEO of Network18 Digital group, as the Managing Director (MD) of its India operations. Maheshwari will be taking over the new role on April 29 and lead 'strategy and execution' at Twitter India while also focusing on the company's revenue and audience growth in the country. Here are the details of his appointment.

Maheshwari will be taking over from Balaji Krish

Maya Hari, Twitter's Asia Pacific VP, announced Maheshwari's appointment in a welcome tweet. She said his experience in the media industry and knowledge of consumer trends will play a critical role in contributing to Twitter India's growth. Maheshwari will take over the leadership from Balaji Krish, who took the role of Twitter's interim country head after the departure of Taranjeet Singh in September.

    Here is Hari's welcome Tweet

Manish’s extensive background in technology and media in India, as well as a deep understanding of Indian consumer trends, will be key areas of strength for us as we grow our business across the country.

Maheshwari's role will be crucial for Twitter's growth, revenue

Twitter has been serving as a major source of news for Indians, and Maheshwari's appointment could ensure that the service isn't misused for political gains, especially during the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. In addition to this, his knowledge of consumer trends across the country could boost the ad-revenue of the microblogging giant in the near future.

Here's what Maheshwari said on his appointment

Thanks Maya! I feel incredibly honoured to be joining @TwitterIndia at this exciting time. India's future is digital and full of possibilities. With our amazing teams across the country, I’m bullish about the positive impact that we can have on all elements of Indian society. https://t.co/hscFSpe5cR
