NSDL unveils Women Plan waiving fees for new demat accounts
NSDL has rolled out its Women Plan, making it easier (and cheaper) for women to start investing.
If you open a new demat account with NSDL between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027, you won't have to pay any settlement fees on debit transactions for three years, no matter how many trades you make.
This also applies to joint accounts where a woman is the first holder.
Women demat accounts jump 129%
This move is all about helping more women move from just saving to actually building wealth.
NSDL's CEO Vijay Chandok said the plan aims to build a momentum and make investment more accessible and rewarding for women, especially for those starting their journey.
It comes at a time when women investors are on the rise—demat accounts held by women have jumped 129% since 2021, now topping 28 million and making up about 30% of new brokerage clients.
