Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, will head a 200-member business delegation to Japan from August 24-27. The visit will be India's largest-ever business delegation to the country. The four-day tour will cover Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. It includes representatives from key sectors such as manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare, and start-ups.

The visit is aimed at significantly deepening trade and investment ties under the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry said, "The visit reflects the scale of ambition both nations bring to their Special Strategic and Global Partnership, and comes at a time when India and Japan are looking to significantly deepen trade and investment ties."

Business meetings

Goyal will hold a series of meetings in Tokyo

In Tokyo, Goyal will hold a series of meetings with top executives of major Japanese industrial conglomerates.

He will also attend a round-table with Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), an apex body representing over 1,500 Japanese enterprises.

Dedicated sessions on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, as well as start-ups and foreign institutional investors, are also on the agenda.

Diplomatic engagements

Minister to meet Akazawa Ryosei during visit

During his time in Tokyo, Goyal will also hold bilateral talks with Akazawa Ryosei, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

He is also scheduled to meet senior members of the Japanese government and Parliament.

The minister will interact with the Indian community in Japan during this visit.

Industrial hub visit

Delegation to head to Nagoya next

The delegation will then head to Nagoya, Central Japan's industrial hub.

Here, Goyal will lead a business roadshow with the Central Japan Economic Federation (Chukeiren) and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

He will meet with leaders of Aichi Prefecture and major investors in the automotive and steel sectors during this leg of the tour.

Tour will conclude in Osaka with investors and business roadshow

The tour will conclude in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow. Goyal will meet with Japanese corporations across electronics, industrial, and consumer markets.

The engagements are aimed at showcasing opportunities in India's manufacturing, clean energy, and consumer markets.

Japan has always been a key long-term partner in technology, industrial collaboration and capital inflows across Indian infrastructure sectors such as steel and automotive.
