Big changes are coming to Indian airports!
The Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) has just given the green light to privatize 11 airports, splitting them into five bundles that will be leased out for the next 50 years.
The plan still needs final approval before it heads to the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
Government proposes bidder cap for airports
The list includes Amritsar, Kangra, Varanasi, Gaya, Kushinagar, Bhubaneswar, Hubballi, Raipur, Aurangabad, Tiruchirappalli, and Tirupati.
To keep things fair (especially after Adani Group won all six airports last round), the government has proposed capping how many bundles a single bidder can win.
Bids will focus on how much each company is willing to pay per domestic passenger.
