Renault partnering with Thales to build 1,000 Toutatis drones monthly
Renault, best known for its cars, is jumping into the defense world by partnering with Thales to build military drones.
Announced at the Eurosatory defense fair, this move will see Renault making 1,000 Toutatis loitering munitions every month starting as early as next year from the current 100 per year.
These drones are aimed at international markets and mark a big shift for Renault.
Renault adopts injection molding for drones
Renault is using its car-making skills to speed things up and cut costs, switching from 3-D printing to plastic injection molding and simplifying drone designs.
Alongside these drones, Renault is also working on a long-range Chorus program with Turgis Gaillard, with a first demonstrator expected by the end of this year.
The company says this push helps strengthen France's defense capabilities while opening new doors for its business.
