Robin AI sells services division after major layoffs
Robin AI, once a rising star in legal tech and even praised by then prime minister Rishi Sunak, has agreed to sell its managed services division to rival Scissero.
This move follows big layoffs in late 2025 and a failed funding round.
The deal doesn't include Robin AI's core technology, just the service side.
What happened to Robin AI?
A significant portion of Robin AI's team lost their jobs as the company struggled financially.
With this acquisition, Scissero now serves over 100 companies and gets a boost against competitors like Harvey and Legora.
Together, they'll have around 150 people.
Fast rise—and tough times
Robin AI quickly landed big-name clients like Pfizer and General Electric and raised tens of millions of pounds from backers including SoftBank.
But despite its early buzz, money troubles led to layoffs and selling off part of the business—a reminder of how fast things can change in tech.
