Sensex gains 640 points as Trump eases Iran tension worries
Indian stock markets made a solid comeback on Tuesday after two rough days.
The mood improved as President Donald Trump suggested tensions with Iran might cool off soon, and dropping oil prices added to the good vibes.
By the end of the day, Sensex was up 640 points at 78,205.98, and Nifty closed nearly 234 points higher at 24,261.60.
Midcap, small-cap stocks shine
Midcap and small-cap stocks outperformed the big names, climbing up to 2%. Sectors like auto and PSU banks also saw decent gains.
Standout stocks included Dixon Technologies (up 12% after a government investment nod) and Borosil (also up 12% on expansion plans).
But it wasn't all sunshine: more than 220 stocks, including biggies like TCS, hit their lowest point in a year.
So while some parts of the market are rallying, others are still struggling to find their footing.
