Sensex jumps 544 points as IT and energy lead gains
Markets had another strong day on Tuesday, with the Sensex climbing 544 points to close at 76,809 and the Nifty up 135 points at 23,989.
The big push came from IT and energy stocks, making this the third straight day of gains.
HCLTech acquires 10.5% Sarvam AI stake
HCLTech led the IT rally with a nearly 4% jump after announcing the acquisition of a 10.5% stake in Sarvam AI for ₹1,427.25 crore.
Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and Hindustan Unilever also helped lift the market.
Oil companies like IOC and HPCL saw small gains as global oil prices dipped.
Bandhan Bank rose over 2% after offloading some bad loans.
General Insurance Corporation drops over 7%
General Insurance Corporation dropped more than 7% after news of a discounted government stake sale.
Metal stocks struggled too as aluminum prices softened.
Meanwhile, the rupee got a bit stronger against the dollar by market close.
