Sensex, Nifty close flat after early excitement

Business

Markets started strong on Monday, thanks to India's fastest GDP growth in a year and a half (8.2%), but couldn't hold onto the gains.
By closing time, the Nifty was down 27 points at 16,176 and the Sensex slipped 65 points to 55,642—so all that morning hype fizzled out by the end of the day.

Hind Zinc jumped 3% on strong global prices, but IndiGo took a hit from rising fuel costs and currency troubles—reminding us how bumpy things are for aviation right now.
