Tamil Nadu's new toy policy aims to boost jobs and cool innovations

Business

Tamil Nadu just rolled out its Toy Manufacturing Policy 2025, hoping to turn the state into a hub for next-gen toys—including high-tech and electromechanical ones.
Announced by Chief Minister MK Stalin at the Investors Conclave in Madurai, the policy is all about attracting big investments (over ₹50 crore) and creating at least 50 new jobs within three years.

Perks, support, and a spotlight on creativity

To sweeten the deal, companies get subsidies based on location—ranging from 7% for up to five years in 'A' districts, and up to 12% for up to 10 years in 'B' and 'C' districts.
The state also wants to help local artisans sell their toys online and is calling the toy sector a "sunrise industry," which means extra incentives like payroll support specifically for creative design studios engaged in toy design or R&D.
Plus, there's financial help for getting GI tags on traditional toys, so Tamil Nadu-made playthings can stand out across India.
