Tata Starbucks reaches 500 stores across 80 cities, plans expansion
Starbucks India is about to get a whole lot bigger.
After two years of reworking its business, the coffee giant (a Tata and Starbucks partnership) now runs 500 stores across 80 cities, and they're not slowing down.
With four straight quarters of same-store sales growth, Tata Consumer Products Managing Director and CEO Sunil D'Souza says the brand is ready to expand even more.
Tata Starbucks trims losses, boosts revenue
By resizing stores, cutting costs, and tweaking drink prices, Tata Starbucks boosted revenue by 11% in the June quarter and trimmed down losses.
Now, they're focusing on opening clusters of stores in each city (think more than five per city) to run things more efficiently.
The big goal? To someday rival Starbucks's massive presence in China (8,000 outlets), though for now most new openings will be in existing cities rather than brand-new ones.
