Thomson wants a bigger slice of India's washing machine market
Business
Thomson, the French electronics brand, is ramping up its offline game in India and aiming for a 4% share of the washing machine market.
Already holding 6% online, they're teaming up with 15 new trade partners to boost sales in physical stores, following recent GST-related confusion that affected offline sales, according to CEO Avneet Singh Marwah.
TVs, tech upgrades, and future plans
Thomson's premium TVs (like mini LED models) are selling well as more people upgrade from smaller screens.
But rising global memory chip prices are making LED TVs more expensive—kind of like the chip shortages we saw a couple years back.
Looking ahead, Thomson also plans to set up an Indian manufacturing plant by 2026 to strengthen its local presence even further.
