Unilever, Accenture to deploy over 40 AI factory digital twins
Unilever is partnering with Accenture to roll out over 40 AI-powered digital twins in its factories around the world over the next 18 months.
These digital twins, basically smart virtual copies of real factory equipment, use live data to help Unilever cut waste, save energy, and make faster decisions for a greener future.
Unilever factories see efficiency gains
The tech isn't just theory: it's working. At their North Carolina plant, deodorant waste dropped by 20% and production capacity went up by 10%.
In India, energy use fell at one site while another saw Dove soap defects reduced by 30%.
Factories in Poland are also reducing waste in mayonnaise production, while Vietnam is using less premium raw material thanks to these smart upgrades.
With Accenture's help, Unilever plans to keep leveling up with more automation (but humans will still be keeping an eye on things).
