US court orders TCS to pay $194 million in trade secrets case

Business

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) just got hit with a major setback in the US.
A federal appeals court upheld an earlier ruling that TCS must pay $194.2 million to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), a subsidiary of DXC Technology, over claims it misused CSC's software secrets.
The court also lifted an injunction and sent part of the case back for further review.

What happened and what's next?

This all started back in 2019 when CSC accused TCS of accessing its software without permission.
The damages break down into compensatory, exemplary, and interest payments—definitely not pocket change.
TCS says it will update its financial statements as required and is considering more legal steps, promising to defend itself strongly going forward.
