Vishal Sikka warns IT and SaaS risk fading without AI
Vishal Sikka, founder and CEO of Vianai Systems and former CEO and managing director of Infosys, is urging IT and SaaS companies to move fast on AI or risk fading out.
He told CNBC-TV18 that AI is changing everything: tasks that once needed large teams can now be handled in minutes by people who know their way around AI.
Sikka urges AI driven business models
Sikka says companies need to rethink their business models, focusing more on AI-driven services.
He compared this shift to Netflix ditching DVDs for streaming, a bold move that paid off.
For India's massive $280 billion IT industry (with over 5 million jobs), sticking with old outsourcing methods could make it easy targets for automation.
Sikka cites 2 million AI builders
He also pointed out there's a huge shortage of skilled people in the field: only about 2 million worldwide can build AI apps, and just 5,000 can create cutting-edge models.
Vishal Sikka called it, "So, this is an unbelievably asymmetric situation, where essentially the bulk of the world is completely oblivious to this. So, fixing that asymmetry is a very important problem and also for India."
