Walmart's big AI push: India at the heart of it

Walmart is making a major move into artificial intelligence and machine learning, aiming to transform how we shop.
Suresh Kumar, Walmart's Executive VP, shared that new AI systems are helping automate decisions—making shopping smoother for customers and improving how stores manage products by connecting online and in-store experiences.

India's leading role & cool collaborations

India is driving much of this tech upgrade, with huge teams in Bengaluru and Chennai and a fresh million square feet of office space recently leased in 2024 for innovation.
Walmart is also teaming up with startups, IIT Madras, OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft to blend physical stores with digital tools—such as integrating product discovery into ChatGPT.
