WEF finds 1st slowdown in a decade, India rises 70th
The latest Energy Transition Index from the World Economic Forum shows that global progress toward cleaner energy has slowed for the first time in over 10 years, mostly because of geopolitical risks and shaky energy systems.
But India's making waves, jumping two spots to 70th place, thanks to big moves in infrastructure, sustainability, and financial investment.
India ramps renewables and jobs grow
India's strategy is all about ramping up renewables like hydropower, upgrading its power grid, and investing in green hydrogen.
In 2024 alone, the proportion of low-carbon jobs grew by 24%, while renewable energy jobs reached 1.3 million workers.
Even with record global spending ($3.3 trillion on energy last year), many countries are still struggling to turn investment into real progress.
