13 firms pledge ₹1,900cr under PLI scheme for white goods
What's the story
Thirteen companies have submitted applications under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods, which includes air conditioners and LED lights. The total committed investment from these companies stands at ₹1,914 crore. The investments are spread across six states and cover 13 districts. This is the fourth round of the scheme with an application window that was open between September 15 and November 10, 2025.

9 companies to manufacture AC components
Among the 13 companies, one is already a beneficiary of the PLI Scheme for White Goods. This company has committed an additional investment of ₹15 crore. The remaining nine companies, which account for 75% of the total investment, have applied to manufacture air conditioner components with a combined investment of ₹1,816 crore. Their investments will go into making copper tubes, aluminum stock, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, control assemblies, and other high-value components.

Proposed investments in LED component manufacturing
The other four companies have proposed a total investment of ₹98 crore for LED component manufacturing. This includes the production of LED chips, drivers, and heat sinks. The proposed investments cover six states across 13 districts and 23 locations in total. So far, the PLI Scheme for White Goods has attracted a committed investment of ₹10,335 crore from 80 approved beneficiaries.

PLI scheme for white goods
The PLI Scheme for White Goods was approved by the Union Cabinet on April 7, 2021. It has a total outlay of ₹6,238 crore and aims to create a complete component ecosystem for ACs and LED lights in India. The scheme is expected to increase domestic value addition in the sector from 15-20% to 75-80%. So far, it has generated production worth ₹1.72 lakh crore and created around 60,000 direct jobs across the country.
