What's the story

Aadit Palicha, the co-founder and CEO of Zepto, said he wants to build a "Delhivery for fruits and vegetables (FnV)" in India. In a post on LinkedIn, Palicha discussed the growth opportunities that lie within the country's logistics sector. He said that he wants to build an efficient supply chain model for fresh produce.

Zepto's existing role in India's FnV supply chain

Palicha said that Zepto already operates one of India's biggest direct-to-farm FnV supply chains, processing more than two million units every day. He stressed that developing this infrastructure would require a lot of investment and "deep deep deep execution and tech capability building." Palicha also highlighted the gaps in India's fresh/cold supply chain infrastructure, such as ripening chambers, packaging automation, and collection center network design.

Meanwhile, Zepto is gearing up for its IPO and hopes to file its draft documents by this month or April. The company recently executed a domicile shift from Singapore to India in January. Palicha has also addressed Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal's comments on Zepto's cash burn, calling them "verifiably untrue."
