    Explained: Step-wise admission process to UG courses in Delhi University

  • Delhi University (DU) closed its registration process on June 22, and will now be rolling out the first cut-off list on June 28 for the merit-based undergraduate courses.

    As per the university's official notice, all the aspirants will be given three days, excluding Sundays, after the release of a cut-off list for document verification, approval of admission and fee payment.

  • The cut-off list is expected to be released from all the affiliated colleges individually along with a centralized list from the university's side.

    Once the list is released, all the applicants can log in to the online admission portal, and select the college and course as per their preference.

    They can choose from the list of colleges and courses they are eligible for.

  • Step 2: Verification

  • Later, the applicants will have to visit the respective college for their admission and document verification.

    Here are the documents required:

    1- Print-out of form from the admission portal.

    2- Class X certificate.

    3- Class XII mark sheet.

    4- SC/ST/OBC/EWS/CW/KM Certificate.

    5- Three passport size photographs.

    Please note that all the applicants have to produce original documents for verification along with their photocopies.

  • Forensic verification

    Provisional admission if college fails to verify documents online

  • Meanwhile, if for any reason the college fails to verify the documents online, the applicant will be given provisional admission.

    However, after the last day of UG admission, the provisionally admitted applicants have to produce the required original documents within a week for forensic verification.

    Notably, the college will cancel the admission in case one fails to produce documents for forensic verification.

  • Information

    No 'first come, first serve' policy at the university

  • As per the university guidelines, there is no "first come, first serve" policy. The college has to admit all the candidates who meet the cut-off percentage. However, the official guidelines stated, "Late arrivals outside of the prescribed duration of each cut-off will not be entertained."

  • Step 3

  • The link for fee payment will be available once the Head of the Institute approves the admission.

    The applicants must complete the payment within 24hrs via the online portal.

    Moreover, one must save his/her payment acknowledgement slip, which contains transaction ID, Credit Card/Debit card/Netbanking details and date of transaction, for future reference.

    The applicant will be granted provisional admission once the payment is successful.

    Admission for previously eligible applicants will be subject to availability

  • In addition, the university's guidelines said, "Eligible Applicants of the (n-1)th Cut-Off List (previous list), if any, shall be entertained for admissions only in the last hour of the third day of current n th Cut-Off subject to the availability of vacant seats."

    Here is the schedule of DU's five cut-off lists

  • In the schedule released, the university has announced the dates for the five cut-off lists (given below):

    First cut-off list: June 28

    Second cut-off list: July 4

    Third cut-off list: July 9

    Fourth cut-off list: July 15

    Fifth cut-off list: July 20

    However, each list will be released depending on the availability of seats after the admissions are done as per the previous list.
