
Delhi: Legal action against publisher for defining women's body shape
What's the story
The "Health and Physical Education" textbook for Class 12 authored by Dr. VK Sharma recently received flak for defining "36-24-36" as a female body's "best shape." Secretary of the department of school education and literacy (MHRD), Anil Swarup said legal action will be initiated against the private publisher of the book. Scientists: Will take 10 years to revive Yamuna floodplains
According to scientists, aquatic plants, microbes and animals that were once a part of Yamuna's ecosystem, would be needed to revive the floodplains damaged by Art of Living's three-day cultural festival in March 2016. A member from the NGT-appointed panel said the process will take atleast a decade. More than 420 acres of floodplains on both sides of Yamuna have been adversely affected.

Half of Delhi's MLAs have criminal cases against them
According to Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Ahir, the Delhi Police has registered criminal cases against 35 MLAs. The Minister informed the same to the Parliament; party affiliations of the MLAs, however, were not disclosed. Most of the MLAs booked last year belong to the Aam Aadmi Party, which currently holds 66 out of Delhi assembly's 70 seats.

BSP workers protest against usage of EVMs
The district unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) were protesting at the district collectorate office against the usage of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during elections. The party called for a state-wide protest at all of its district headquarters. Their demands include a paper trail for all future elections which according to them, should be conducted through the ballot box system.

Haryana Police launches Operation Durga on lines of Operation Romeo
A statewide campaign called Operation Durga was launched by the Haryana government on Tuesday to keep a vigil on harassment faced by women in public places. The operation aligned with UP government's 'Operation Romeo' and caught 72 persons for alleged crimes against women. Four youths were also arrested in Gurugram, where a 'sanitizing operation' was carried out at public colleges and outside schools.

RWA members enter Delhi's municipal poll race
Members of numerous Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) have entered the race for Delhi's upcoming municipal corporation elections. According to these candidates, their USP is an on-ground understanding of their neighbourhoods, its residents and its problems. Newer parties like AAP and Swaraj India, too, have nominated candidates from RWAs due to their level of acceptance at the community level.
