    The Supreme Court came out in favour of amending the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act by allowing women to abort terminally ill fetuses beyond the present limit of 20 weeks. The bill intends to extend abortion deadline to 24 weeks, if doctors believe that pregnancy poses a threat to mother's life or if there are fetal abnormalities. Keep reading for more from Delhi.

    Delhi L-G tells vigilance to take action as per rules

    Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal has asked principal secretary of vigilance to go by the rulebook and take action in a plea seeking prosecution sanction against CM Arvind Kejriwal in the alleged PWD scam. The Anti-Corruption Branch had lodged three separate FIRs on the basis of a complaint that alleges irregularities in grant of contracts for roads and sewer lines in Delhi in 2015-16.

    Digital economy still a distant dream for Delhi village

    On February 7, Surakhpur was announced as Delhi's first fully digital payment enabled village by the government. It's been four months now, the government's attempt to implement digital economy has failed to fetch the required results as the village has poor internet connectivity, low smart phone penetration and lacks basic amenities such as transport and water. There is no mobile tower present here.

    Police recover 21 mobiles during day-long search at Bhondsi jail

    The Gurgaon police recovered 21 mobile phones, 10 SIM cards, two chargers and a pen drive from inmates during a day-long search in Bhondsi jail. According to police, the jammers in jail can only stop signals of 2G, 3G phones and therefore, the inmates started using 4G handsets. The physical searches will continue till the entire jail is covered by hi-tech jammers.

    Ghaziabad's fire dept gets first hydraulic platform, costs Rs. 3.75crore

    Ghaziabad's fire department got its first 42-metre hydraulic platform that will help fight fires in residential and commercial high-rise buildings. Costing nearly Rs. 3.75crore, the equipment, mounted on a vehicle, will be able to reach atop a 15-storey building and will aid in rescuing those trapped on top floors during an emergency. In 2016 alone, the department succeeded in saving property worth Rs. 272crore.

    Central govt gives in-principle nod to international airport at Jewar

    The Union civil aviation ministry gave an in-principle nod to the proposal of setting up an international airport in the next 5-6 years at Greater Noida on Saturday. An international airport in Greater Noida will ease traffic at Delhi's IGI airport. This project will serve as a lucrative opportunity for businessmen and hoteliers and also provide the youth with employment opportunities.

    Delhi to have first Bike Pride Rally on July 2

    Some members of LGBTQ community in Delhi will ride from South Extension II to Jantar Mantar on their two-wheelers on July 2 this year, making it city's first Bike Pride Rally on the day when Delhi High Court, in 2009, repealed section 377. The participants will take the rainbow flag across the city. They will be supported by a number of NGOs and organizations.
