Akal Takht bans animated film 'Hind Di Chadar'

Entertainment

The Akal Takht has stopped the release of "Hind Di Chadar," an animated film about Guru Tegh Bahadur, after Sikh groups raised concerns over how he was portrayed.
The SGPC was told to pull the movie, which was set for a November 21 release, because it goes against Sikh traditions.
SGPC chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan called out the film for not respecting Sikh principles and said releasing a film on such a sensitive topic, particularly one that deviates from established Sikh values, is not appropriate in any manner.

Why did this happen?

A special committee reviewed the film and found issues with how Sikh history and figures were shown.
Based on their report, the Akal Takht officially asked the filmmakers to withdraw it, saying it's important to honor Sikh teachings and avoid stirring up controversy in the community.
