    What's the story

Period films seem to have become Akshay Kumar's new favorite.

The superstar will very soon be seen in Reema Kagti's 'Gold' and then in Anurag Singh's 'Kesari', both of which go back in time.

And now, he has signed yet another historic film with Yash Raj Films. The new project is based on the life of Indian king, Prithviraj Chauhan.

    Details

The film will be directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi

A media report has it that Akshay and YRF were planning to collaborate for a while now.

Earlier, there were rumors that Akshay will also be doing a film with 'Chak De! India' director Shimit Amin but that turned out to be false.

This untitled film by Chandraprakash Dwivedi is likely to go on floors by next year.

    Context

Meanwhile, Akshay is gearing up for the release of 'Gold'

Akshay's latest offering revolves around the Indian Hockey team's historic win at the 1948 Olympics.

It marks the Bollywood debut of TV actor Mouni Roy and will be out on August 15.

'Gold' has been produced by Farhan Akhtar along with Ritesh Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment.

    Information

'Kesari' will be out on Holi next year

Featuring Parineeti Chopra opposite Akshay, 'Kesari' is based on the Battle of Saragarhi (1897). Bankrolled by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, it will be out on Holi next year. Besides, Akshay also has '2.0', 'Housefull 4' and 'Hera Pheri 3' in his kitty.
